Our main topic for the next term is The Romans. To support the topic, we have organised a visit from Hands on History on the 23rd September, this will really start their learning journey. From there, we will look closer at the Roman’s in Britain and look at life from the perspective of a Roman soldier and a slave. In Literacy, they will be studying ‘Escape from Pompeii’ by Christina Balit and will write a diary entry from one of the key characters. The learning journey is attached in the letter for further detail. We hope you find it useful and we look forward to sharing these experiences with your children over the next term.
Starting Thursday 19th September 2019, Otters will go swimming at the Dolphin leisure centre. Please ensure they bring their swimming bag and arrive promptly to leave at 9am.
They will also have PE on a Tuesday afternoon, with this term’s focus football and athletics. It is essential that pupils have the correct kit with them so that they can gain the most out of the sessions planned for them.
Whenever possible the children will have PE outside. During the cold weather, please ensure your child brings trousers for PE and a warm layer available as part of their kit for both the top and bottom to cover their t-shirt.
Homework will be sent out on a Tuesday and will be due in on the following Monday. Homework is carefully explained to the children and they are provided with the opportunity to speak with myself if they are unsure of any aspect with their homework.
